One-minute check
Find your Mac chip and macOS version.
Open “About This Mac”
Choose the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen, then select “About This Mac.”
Check the Chip or Processor line
Apple M1, M2, M3, M4 or a newer Apple chip means your Mac uses Apple Silicon. If it says Intel, Windowly is not supported.
Check your macOS version
Windowly requires macOS 14 or later. Use Software Update before installing if your compatible Mac is on an older version.
What else you need
Windows needs room to run.
Available memory
Windows and macOS run at the same time. Performance depends on the memory available on your Mac and the workload inside Windows.
Free storage
Windows, updates, applications and your files use local disk space. Check System Settings → General → Storage before starting.
Internet connection
An internet connection is required to obtain setup files, complete Windows setup and download the applications you need.
Separate licences
Windowly does not include a Microsoft Windows licence or licences for Power BI, ArcGIS Pro and other third-party software.

Windowly prepares a local Windows 11 ARM virtual machine. Windows runs in a separate workspace while macOS remains your main operating system.
The virtual machine and its files remain on your Mac. Windowly is not a remote desktop or cloud PC service. Compatibility varies across Windows applications, connectors, peripherals and workloads.

Yes, when the Mac uses Apple Silicon and runs macOS 14 or later. Performance still varies by memory, available storage and workload.
Does Windowly support Mac mini, iMac and Mac Studio?
Compatible Apple Silicon desktop Macs running macOS 14 or later can run Windowly. Intel-based models are not supported.
Can I install Windowly on an Intel Mac?
No. The current Windowly setup requires Apple Silicon.
Will every Windows application work?
No. Windows 11 ARM can run many Windows applications, but Windowly cannot guarantee every application, connector, peripheral or feature.
Is Windows included with the subscription?
No. Windowly does not sell or provide a Microsoft Windows licence. Third-party application licences are also separate.
